Building Peace & Countering Islamophobia and Radical Ideologies

In collaboration with Czech Ambassador Robert Řehák, Ph.D.Chair of the Article 18 Alliance, which is made up of 43 states— IRF Secretariat, Love Your Neighbor Community (LYNC), and the Templeton Religion Trust (TRT) are convening a special program in support of an Intercultural and Interfaith Conference in Prague, hosted by the Czech Republic on November 14, 2024.

International Religious Freedom Roundtable Live From Prague (hybrid)

Location: Charles University, Protestant Theological Faculty, Černá 9, Prague 1 (Room E on the 3rd floor)

The IRF Roundtable, led by co-chairs Greg Mitchell and Nadine Maenza, convenes weekly and is an informal space where NGOs, individuals, and government officials from all faiths and beliefs gather, share information and stories of religious persecution, and take multi-faith actions to advocate for and build religious freedom for all.

How Can FoRB Help Overcome Radical Ideologies?

This panel explores the important role of FoRB in countering radical ideologies discussing how protecting and promoting religious freedom fosters an environment of tolerance and respect, essential for mitigating radical views. Presenting inclusive policies and practices will show how radicalization can be prevented, by ensuring freedom of speech to all religious affiliations.

How to Approach Current Islamophobic Hatred in the World.

The focus of this panel is on understanding and addressing the rise of Anti-Muslim / Islamophobia hatred in various parts of the world. It will examine the roots of this hatred, like sociopolitical factors and media influence. Importantly, strategies how to approach this hatred, engage community and educate will be discussed. The aim of this panel is to bring solidarity and support, reducing prejudice and discrimination against Muslim communities.

How Can Intercultural and Interfaith Dialogue Help to Restore Peace?

This panel will introduce the strengths of intercultural and interfaith dialogue in promoting peace and reconciliation. Open and respectful communication between different cultural and religious groups is vital to build mutual understanding and to heal conflicts. The aim of this panel is to encourage such dialogue, with empathy, shared values thus, creating a harmonious society.
